Tongwei TNC 2.0: High-Efficiency Bifacial Modules (20BB/24BB) Built for Pakistan

2025-11-24

For Pakistan’s solar market, the right partner matters as much as the right module. Tongwei Solar, a Fortune Global 500 company and BloombergNEF Tier 1 module supplier, is one of the few manufacturers controlling the full PV value chain from polysilicon to cells and modules. Today, Tongwei is the world's largest supplier of polysilicon and solar cells, and a global Top 5 module shipper, providing project owners with cost competitiveness, stable supply, and the bankability needed for long-term assets in Pakistan.

As Pakistan works to cut reliance on imported fuels, developers need modules that stay reliable in heat, dust and seasonal humidity. Tongwei’s TNC 2.0 series is built around these conditions, combining high power, strong bifacial gains and proven durability.

Within this platform, the TNC 2.0 series targets utility-scale, C&I and residential projects. Both G12 and G12R use an ultra-multiple busbar design, where current is collected by 24 busbars in G12 and 20 in G12R. This dense, flexible interconnection improves current collection efficiency and reduces cell-to-module losses. On the front side, both formats deliver very high efficiencies close to 25%, maximizing capacity on limited land and roof area. Just as important for Pakistan is the rear side: TNC 2.0 modules under R&D have achieved bifaciality above 88%, certified by TÜV Rheinland and CGC, enabling extra energy from reflected light and more stable output during hazy mornings, winter fog and low-angle sunlight.

Reliability is the second pillar. In the 2025 Kiwa PVEL PV Module Reliability Scorecard, one of the industry’s benchmarks, Tongwei was again named a “Top Performer” and achieved maximum ratings across all tested categories. The TNC modules passed intensive sequences covering Thermal Cycling, Damp Heat, PID, LeTID and UV exposure, indicating that they are engineered for stable operation over decades in harsh outdoor environments.

For project economics, the G12R-66 can reduce BoS costs by 1.42%, lower LCoE by 1.65% and improve land-use efficiency by around 4.6% compared with standard products. Simulations based on a 100 MW project in Madrid showed TNC 2.0 delivering 0.67% higher energy yield than standard TOPCon modules, adding more than 48 million kWh of extra generation over 30 years. For Pakistan’s IPPs, developers and industrial users facing rising tariffs and land constraints, these gains translate directly into lower LCoE, stronger project bankability and more resilient returns over the lifetime of the plant.
